Cantine dell’ Angelo

Angelo Muto is the third generation of a family of winemakers whose vineyards are located in the small village of Tufo. The Greco di Tufo is an ancient varietal that made its way from Greece to southern Italy long ago. Tufo’s volcanic soils, composed of a mix of clay, chalk, quartz and sulfur, give the wines their unique structure, aroma and minerality. Grapes are hand picked, soft pressed, fermented at low temperature and left to rest in stainless steel containers before being bottled after maturation.

Greco has been referred to as ‘a red dressed as a white’ highlighting the potential it has to be paired with multiple cuisines and to age well. On the nose, the Greco di Tufo Miniere has a floral aroma of orchard fruits. The palate is a sharp citrus with good acidity and a sulfuric minerality that represents the unique terroir. The Greco Torrefavale is a terroir wine with a rich texture and intense mineral complexity. Aromas of white flowers, salt and savory herbs and a tense, vertical taste combine to create a long finish to this elegant wine.
