Mythopia

In 2004, Hans Peter-Schmidt purchased some vineyards in the Valais and began the task of reviving their depleted soil with experimental natural processes. By 2010, the Mythopia vineyards became home to a diverse ecosystem and its naked soil was restored, producing grapes that express the full vitality of the land. Schmidt describes his wine as being made of, “grapes and air, nothing more” further intensifying the incantatory nature of Mythopia.

Disobedience, made from Fendant, spends 35 days on skins and 2 years of untouched aging in a barrel producing a orange hue with a complex taste. The Pinot Noirs, Illusion and Pi-No, respectively harbour an earthy herbal sweetness and aromas of red and black berries, intensive, with good acidity. Jadis (French for “yore”) is a blend of two grapes native to the Valais: Fendant and Reze. Pi-No des Martyres is grown on the Clos des Martyres: it was bottled in November 2016 after 5 years ageing in oak.
