Il Cancelliere is a family affair. Located in the heart of Montemarano, the small 5 hectares of vineyards are run by Claudio Panetta and his wife, whose family owns the property. Claudio’s father-in-law, Soccorso ‘Il Cancelliere’ Romano tends to the vineyards and his sister-in-law helps manage orders and the cellar. On the land they only grow Aglianico and use old oak, in the cellar, to intensify the perfumes and aromas of the grapes.
Il Cancelliere Vendemmia undergoes a 3-week maceration and ages in large oak barrels for a year. It is a rich, earthy natural wine of red fruits, violets and plenty of tannins. The Gioviano has a rough minerality and notes of leathers, dark fruit and berries. The finish is warm, with hints of browns, mocha, lingering on the palate. Rich, warm and heady, the Nero Né Taurasi has characteristics of dried fruits, plum, and stimulating tannins.
