Patrick Corbineau is the last winemaker in the Loire village of Candes St. Martin. He works mostly alone with his horse taking care of his 6 hectares of vineyards. While most of his neighbours have adopted more modern techniques with tractors and chemical treatments, Corbineau prefers to look to ancient techniques, working hard to produce the best natural wine possible. Of the 6 hectares, one is in Chinon and five are in Touraine where the soils are freestone, limestone and broken limestone. The slow, natural process results in low yields but results are what matter to Corbineau.
