Stéphane Bernaudeau

Before fully dedicating his time to his own vines, Stephane Bernaudeau formally worked with Mark Angeli at La Ferme de la Sansonniere for 20 years, leaving in 2015. It was from Angeli that he learned how to make natural wines. Located in Martigné-Briand in Anjou, Bernaudeau grows his vines according to biodynamic principles. Bernaudeau produces one of the most energetic expressions of Chenin of the Loire.

The cuvée Les Ongles is noted for its clarity, liveliness and minerality. It is comes from a 2 hectare parcel of 30 year old vines planted on schist. Fermentation is natural before aging in old oak barrels for 12 months. It has a earthy nose and it is crispy and clean on the mouth.
